The Black Hollies New Album Out Tomorrow 10/6 - Free Mp3 - CMJ - November Tour

Tomorrow on October 6th, Ernest Jenning Record Co. will proudly release Softly Towards The Light, the third full-length album from New Jersey quartet The Black Hollies. To celebrate the group have planned a record release party at Glasslands in Brooklyn, NY on 10/10, and are offering up a free download of the song "Gloomy Monday Morning". After an appearance at CMJ 2009, The Black Hollies hit the road in November for an East Coast tour with Brian Scary & The Shredding Tears.

In conjunction with the release, Ernest Jenning Record Co. and The Black Hollies are giving away "Gloomy Monday Morning" via The Ernest Jenning site. The energetic floor-shaking stomp of the single's bass line is just the tip of the iceberg on an album that showcases the bands versatility and growth.  Though the band have always been known as a power-house live act, Softly Towards The Light is a distinct step forward for them as song writers and recording artists. Recording outside of their own studio for the first time, the band chose the confines of Hoboken's Pigeon Club for its allegiance to warm tones and wealth of classic keyboards. A shift that allowed them more freedom to experiment, and helped capture their live energy on tape.

At their record release show at Glasslands 10/10, during CMJ, and on their upcoming November tour, audiences will get a chance to see why The Black Hollies are one of the most entertaining live acts around. In a performance akin to running a marathon, The Black Hollies do not stop playing from the time of the first note to the last sonic blast on the final song. They leave it all on the stage, moving through their set list while blending one song into the other as they expertly transition between upbeat dance numbers and somber ballads without dropping a beat.
