Fred Durst to direct movie

LIMP BIZKIT frontman and occasional video director FRED DURST will direct the movie Runt, about a high school kid who takes revenge on the bullies that pick on him. Production is expected to begin in the fall, after Limp Bizkit tours to promote the new album scheduled for release July 4. The band will also be heard on the Mission: Impossible 2 soundtrack via the theme, "Take a Look Around," alongside cuts from the likes of METALLICA ("I Disappear"), ROB ZOMBIE ("Scum of the Earth"), CHRIS CORNELL ("Mission 2000"), BUCKCHERRY and HANS ZIMMER ("Alone"), APARTMENT 26 ("Backwards"), GODSMACK ("Going Down"), FOO FIGHTERS and BRIAN MAY (covering PINK FLOYD's "Have a Cigar"), and BUTTHOLE SURFERS ("They Came In"). The soundtrack will be released May 9, and Limp Bizkit will follow Metallica's clip with one for its track, hopefully featuring MI2 star TOM CRUISE. KORN drummer DAVID SILVERIA, who has been at home recovering from a wrist injury, will chat with fans at the band's official site, korn.com, tomorrow, April 18 at 8 PM PT. Silveria is expected to talk about Korn's upcoming trip to Europe and summer tour plans, which unconfirmed reports say will be a trek to U.S. speedways with METALLICA, KID ROCK and SYSTEM OF A DOWN. MONSTER MAGNET will shoot a video for "Silver Future," its contribution to the Heavy Metal 2000 flick. The soundtrack, also featuring, among others, PANTERA ("Immortally Insane"), COAL CHAMBER ("Wishes"), MACHINE HEAD ("Alcoholocaust"), SYSTEM OF A DOWN ("Storaged"), QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE ("Infinity"), PUYA ("Tirale"), and FULL DEVIL JACKET ("Green Iron Fist") will be out tomorrow, though the movie doesn't hit screens until July. The first single from DEFTONES' forthcoming album White Pony, "Change," will be out May 8. The album, which will contain enhanced-format CD-ROM material, will be out June 20, and be available in limited edition runs of 50,000 each in red and black jewel cases with an added bonus track and different packaging. On June 1, Deftones will host an album preview party at the Arcadia club at the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles that will be broadcast live over the Internet at www.deftones.com. VAUGHN, featuring former TYKETTO bandmates DANNY VAUGHN, MICHAEL CLAYTON, and JAIMIE SCOTT plus guitarist P.J. ZITAROSA and keyboardist KYLE CUMMINGS, will play one record release party show in the States to celebrate the April 17 issue of Soldiers and Sailors on Riverside in Europe and Japan. Following a late April European tour, the band will perform at L'Amour in Brooklyn, New York on May 11, showcasing new cuts from the album (which will be on sale at the venue) and Tyketto favorites. The CD is also available on the Net via www.hottracks.net, www.aorheaven.com, www.impulsemusic.com and www.loud1.co.uk. Metal Edge Online Members will be able to view an exclusive new interview with Michael Clayton this week. VAUGHN will also appear on 105.5 WDHA's nationally syndicated radio show, The Tour Bus on Saturday May 13th. GODSMACK won four awards at the Kahlua Boston Music Awards last week, taking Act of the Year and Outstanding Rock Band honors plus the Outstanding Male Vocalist and Outstanding Song/Songwriter awards, which went to SULLY ERNA. POWERMAN 5000 took a pair of trophies at the April 13 event, Rising Star and Album of the Year, for Tonight the Stars Revolt!
