New Static-X project

After kicking off their first-ever headlining tour over the weekend, two of the industrial-minded metalheads in STATIC-X can now look forward to another project hitting the stores this summer. Frontman Wayne Static and guitarist Koichi Fukuda turn up on the upcoming major label debut album from the San Francisco-based electronica outfit MEPHISTO ODYSSEY. The two lend their talents to "Crash," which will arrive when the rest of the group's "The Deep Red Connection" hits stores on June 27. Gus Gus' Hafdis Huld and Tarnation's Paula Frazer are also among the artists kicking in for the album. Mephisto Odyssey has crossed paths with Static-X before, as Static-X stands alongside Jane's Addiction and Soul Coughing among the artists the group has remixed. GODSMACK, TORI AMOS, and CHRIS CORNELL will be among the artists joining METALLICA, LIMP BIZKIT, ROB ZOMBIE, and the FOO FIGHTERS on the soundtrack to the upcoming action sequel "Mission: Impossible 2." As we previously reported, Limp has recorded its take on the "Mission: Impossible" theme for the Tom Cruise flick, while Metallica's "I Disappear" will be the soundtrack's first single. Zombie has also recorded a new song called "Scum Of The Earth," while the Foo Fighters and Brian May are teaming to cover Pink Floyd's "Have A Cigar". Those previously announced tracks will be joined by Godsmack's newly recorded "Going Down," Amos' "Carnival," and a new Cornell track called "Mission 2000." ...The BUTTHOLE SURFERS, APARTMENT 26, BUCKCHERRY, and others will also be on board when the soundtrack arrives on May 9 courtesy of Hollywood Records. AC/DC know why their music is charting alongside all those teen pop groups. "[When we began] you had people like ['70s teen idol] David Cassidy," guitarist Angus Young quips. "There are all sorts of cute puppy dogs, but it doesn't stop people from going out and buying Dobermans." According to a recent Paul Stanley interview on Yahoo, presented by KISSONLINE.com and Rockonline.com. Plans for a solo album - "I have no plans to record or write new songs." Paul's greatest accomplishment - "My biggest accomplishement is being a dad, the greatest joy and satisfaction is being a dad." Plans to make a live CD from the Farewell Tour - "There are no plans right now." European Farewell Tour - "This is a story that's writing itself daily. At first it was 60 shows, now it's 70. It's guess work, we're not going to make a career of farewell tours. The demand is so astonsishing so we're trying to rethink things and figure out where we are going to go." Alive IV - "Alive 4 will be out at some point. We missed our deadline and we're still in the midst of it." Will you (KISS) ever record another album together - "No. This is it. It's a great thing to have done. It's a great thing to have. It's also a great thing to accept the end of it and appreciate it for what it is." OK, this is starting to look very official... SAVATAGE confirmed recently that Al Pitrelli has indeed left the band to join MEGADETH. We wish Al the best of luck with Megadeth and his future. He was a great addition to Savatage and we enjoyed every minute of him being here. Says Jon Oliva, "We wish Al the best, it was great playing with him. He is a dear friend of mine and I am sure our paths will cross again somewhere down the road." Says Chris Caffery, "It was a great feeling walking on stage with another guitarist like Al. Not only will I miss him as my guitar partner, I will miss him as a friend. I wish him and Megadeth all the best. The current GREAT WHITE line-up includes vocalist Jack Russell, drummer Audie Desbrow, guitarist/keyboardist Michael Lardie, bassist Sean McNabb and Kendall replacement, guitarist Matthew Johnson (it has not been announced that he is the official replacement for Kendall)...
