Metallica, Korn, Kid Rock to team up for tour

METALLICA, KORN, KID ROCK, POWERMAN 5000, and SYSTEM OF A DOWN are in fact teaming up for a summer tour. METALLICA made the weeks worth of rumors official on Tuesday on an official Web site devoted to the band's tour (metontour.com). Spokespeople for the band's record label, Elektra Records, confirm that the band will join its fellow heavy music faves for twelve dates beginning on June 30 in Foxboro, Massachusetts. The tour will then hit stadiums, arenas, and yes, even speedways across the South and West before heading back East to wrap things up on July 20 at Giants Stadium... Did you hear that Tri-Ste people??? GIANTS STADIUM!!!... The tour is lot more high profile than the plans Metallica originally had for the year 2000. After a non-stop agenda of recording and touring, Metallica had planned to take a lengthy vacation after completing a string of January tour dates. However, the band has shelved rest on favor of recording a new song, "I Disappear," for the "Mission: Impossible 2" soundtrack, shooting a video for it (which will debut on MTV's "Making The Video" on May 8), and now mapping out a summer tour. In related news, after charging Napster and three U.S. colleges with copyright infringement and racketeering, METALLICA now finds itself under fire from the tech company as well as Napster-sympathetic hackers. The suit charges Napster along with fellow defendants U.S.C., Yale, and Indiana University with copyright infringement, unlawful use of a digital audio interface device, and violations of the Racketeering Influenced & Corrupt Organizations Act for "encourag[ing] and enabl[ing] visitors to its website to unlawfully exchange with others copyrighted songs and sound recordings without the knowledge or permission of Metallica." Napster finally addressed the suit early this week, issuing a statement that read, "We regret that that band's management saw fit to issue a press release -- and to file a lawsuit -- without even attempting to contact Napster. We would be happy to speak to the artists or to their management. Many bands who have approached us learned about Napster and how to leverage what we offer and understand the value of what we do. But if these people insist on turning it over to the lawyers, we'll defend the case on that turf." The tentative title of SOULFLY's new album is Primitive... Metallic Hymns: A Tribute To METAL CHURCH is complete and scheduled for an August 22nd release date... DANZIG's new album, Satan's Child, is being released on picture disc vinyl by Nuclear Blast in Germany...
