A spokesperson for GUNS N' ROSES has confirmed that noted producer Roy Thomas Baker is currently in the studio with Axl Rose. Baker has only just met the singer, the spokesperson cautioned, and at this stage, he is only supplying additional production which may or may not make it onto the next GN'R album. This also does not mean the band plans to hand over production duties to Baker, as GN'R manager Doug Goldstein told MTV News that Sean Beavan is still on the job. Mike Clink, Moby, Youth, and finally Beavan have all been names attached to the project to date, but Beavan, on board since early 1999, has been the only one who has logged any serious time. "He's been the only producer," Goldstein told MTV News. "The others were people we met with or tried out on some tracks [with]. With Moby, we just had a meeting with him. Axl tried out Youth; he was great, he just wasn't the guy." Baker's other production and engineering credits include classic material from the likes of The Cars, Journey, Foreigner, T-Rex, Devo, Be-Bop Deluxe, and Cheap Trick.

In KING'S X news, the band is currently gearing up to tour their latest abum Please Come Home...Mr. Bulbous, first to Europe in May for six weeks, then 2 1/2 months through America and Canada starting July 11th. Also in the works: new solo albums from both Ty Tabor and Doug Pinnick, who will record once again as POUNDHOUND. Ty offers the following description of his own solo record: "It's going to be very different, nothing at all like the first record, more Pink Floyd meets Lindsay Buckingham meets the Beatles, a really bizarre combo of things. A lot of harmonies in the vocals and stuff, real melancholy, you know, like a slow, watery Pink Floyd type of vibe." Ty also ventured the following description of the second Poundhound record. "I know that Doug is getting close to being finished. He's extremely happy about it. And what I've heard of it, it is going to be one seriously rocking, funk, stomping kind of record. It's more of what Doug does on his own than what he brings into King's X. There's a funk side to it but it's heavy, really heavy." Ty can currently be heard on the second PLATYPUS album, Ice Cycles.
