PAUL STANLEY isn't the only rock star heading to Broadway (in Phantom of the Opera, this fall). SEBASTIAN BACH will take over the dual title role in the musical Jekyll & Hyde on June 13, making his theater debut. Bach takes over from JACK WAGNER at the Plymouth Theatre, where the show is in its fourth year. Bach, who has been touring to support Bring 'Em Bach Alive! and will be seen in the movie Point Doom on HBO this fall, will be seen as the good Dr. Jekyll and his evil alter ego Edward Hyde in all evening performances and Sunday matinees. For tickets and information call Tele-Charge at (212) 239-6200. Ticket prices range from $45-$80 but a select number of $20 tickets are available, day of performance only, at the Plymouth Theatre box office (beginning 10:00 a.m. daily). We had this little piece of information for almost a week, but we were praying to God someone was making it up... looks like this is the real deal.
According to www.ozzfest.com OZZY OSBOURNE's band have befgun rehearsing for their forthcoming album, due out in July. Guitarist Joe Holmes, bassist Robert Trujillo, and new drummer Roy Mayorga tuned up and turned on recently for the first rehearsal of the rejuvenated Ozzy band. Many of Ozzy's classics and a few seldom-played selections were tried out as the band got together for the first official rehearsal for the Ozzfest. Ozzy joins the band in early May for full band rehearsals. Ozzy's last release, 1995's Ozzmosis, was, by his own admission "a lazy record", so he's aiming to top it with a diverse new album that will combine epic songwriting with hard rock and power ballads. "I hope to rock," he said. "I've got a bunch of ideas, and I've got a couple of semi-finished songs done — about four or five," he said last month. "We've been writing tons of riffs."
TESTAMENT are currently breaking in yet another drummer - this time it's Jon Allen from SADUS. "This time we've come full circle," says Peterson, regarding the line up, "everyone is from the Bay Area and has had something to do with the scene, it's all in the family now!" Testament have been confirmed for four festivals in Europe, including the famous DYNAMO in Holland, June 3rd. In other news, Eric's side project titled DRAGONHEART will be out later this year. Also, Chuck Billy will be participating on a METALLICA tribute lending his talents to 'Seek and Destroy!'
Want to be part of a movie and help a good cause? If you're in Los Angeles on May 13, you can do that and get a great show in the bargain. The Metal God movie is filming a concert scene at the Sports Arena that will involve the band in the story, STEEL DRAGON (comprised of MARK WAHLBERG, ZAKK WYLDE, JEFF PILSON, JASON BONHAM and actor DOMINIC WEST). Of course, an enthusiastic audience is needed for this scene, so Concrete Marketing is hosting a party. GREAT WHITE, WASP, cover band METAL SHOP and possibly MEGADETH will play, and emcees will include C.C. DeVILLE and Playboy Playmates. Videos and '80s concert footage will be shown between sets. Attendees are encouraged to dress in mid '80s attire, and prizes will be awarded for best costume and Hottest Metal Babe ($1000 cash and a walk-on appearance in the movie for each), and the first 500 people in the door will receive a free t-shirt. Also, a guitar autographed by the performers will be raffled off. Tickets are just $5, and the proceeds will go to benefit the T.J. Martell Foundation. Doors open at 6pm and the festivities are scheduled to begin at 7pm. For more on the event, visit www.concreteplanet.com
