Metallica brings down Napster...temporarily

METALLICA has succeeded in getting Napster.com to block users who have traded the band's music on its server. The latter complied with the band's demands in its lawsuit, pertaining to commercially released music being traded on the site. Metallica doesn't claim copyright infringement with regard to live bootleg recordings, just songs that have appeared on its albums. Metallica will be among the performers at the 2000 MTV Movie Awards, scheduled to be taped June 3 at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles for airing June 8 at 9 PM ET/PT. BAR 7's website is almost open, but you can sample two tracks from the soon to be released album The World Is A Freak, featuring former Tesla band members Jeff Keith and Tommy Skeoch. The tracks ("Lady Bug" and "American Dream") are there to download in full. They sound great, but beware the style is more the rootsy, stripped back feel so many bands have followed lately, rather than a new version of something the mighty Tesla might have released.
