The boys in ATELLO are moving up in the world; They just got a spot opening for MR. BIG at The Birch Hill Nite Club on June 9th. Tickets are available through the band & at The Birch Hill (but the band prefers it if you went directly through them for them...).
New Jersey progressive rockers ETHERIA are going to be part of a QUEENSRYCHE Tribute Album Warning: Minds of Raging Empires being released by Seigen Records in or around June. They'll be contributing "Eyes Of A Stranger" for the compilation, and last night bass player Louis Santis sent over a copy of the track "Inside" as a sample of their work. For the record, their vocalist, Mike Blair, does the best Geoff Tate impersonation I have EVER heard. Out of all of the crappy tribute albums that have been released lately (anything to try and break new bands, huh?), this one will definitely be worth a listen. You can hear it for yourself at: http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/116/etheria.html. You can also see their website for more information on this release: http://www.geocities.com/etherianj/
AXL ROSE has a very persistent stalker. KAREN McNEIL, who was issued a restraining order after breaking into Rose's Malibu house three years ago, violated that court order on Tuesday, when she was found outside Rose's home. The 37 year-old woman was arrested and jailed. Rose's representatives believe that McNeil, who claims she can communicate with the singer by telepathy and has issued threats to him in the past, poses a danger to his safety.
CINDERELLA bassist ERIC BRITTINGHAM and guitarist JEFF LaBAR will chat with fans at www.cinderella.net on Friday, May 26 at 9 PM CT.
OZZY OSBOURNE, who will participate in a private industry-only showcase sponsored by his Divine Records label at Hollywood's Roxy on Saturday night that will see him covering BLACK SABBATH's "N.I.B." with PRIMUS (as they do on the forthcoming Nativity in Black II disc), will also warm up for the OzzFest with an open-to-the-public performance, joining New York radio station KROCK's Dysfunctional Family Picnic on June 23 at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. The bill also features LIMP BIZKIT, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, GODSMACK, CREED, DEFTONES, and SEVENDUST.
In other OZZY news, BLACK SABBATH cornerstones Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi as well as SYSTEM OF A DOWN, STATIC-X, SUGAR RAY, EVERLAST, and SEVENDUST are among the hard rock heavyweights saluting hip-hop on an upcoming tribute album. Static-X will be hooking up with Dead Prez in a Los Angeles studio next week to record a cover of the Dead Prez track "Hip-Hop" for the genre-bending salute to rap label Loud Records. Other cuts for the album will find Ozzy and Iommi teaming with the Wu-Tang Clan on "For Heavens Sake," Sevendust joining Xzibit for "What You See Is What You Get," Everlast cutting a track with Mobb Deep, Sugar Ray recording with Tha Alkaholiks, and System Of A Down meeting Wu-Tang maestro Rza to cover "Shame on a Ni**a." This disc is tentatively due to hit stores this fall.
In regards to an earlier post this week about METHODS OF MAYHEM: We were wrong...M.O.M. is still on the OzzFest bill.
