KISS auctions memorabilia
To promote the upcoming KISS Auction of memorabilia on June 24 and 25 in Los Angeles, GENE SIMMONS will be interviewed on CBS' Early Morning Show on June 9, and will participate in another interview at www.auctionchannel.com before the live event. The PC version of KISS' videogame Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child will be released on July 17, with the Sega Dreamcast version to follow in August. KISS openers SKID ROW will have to miss four shows on the tour, July 28-30 and August 1, due to a prior commitment, but the temporary replacement hasn't yet been announced.
Speaking of KISS, a very unique request came in this morning from Tom in New York. From what we're told, his friend Joey was savagely attacked while working as a postal police officer. Joey is a HUGE fan of KISS, and because of this injury, will not be able to attend the shows in the New York area later this month. You can read more about this incident in the DAILY NEWS by CLICKING HERE. Tom has asked that we Email the band and appeal to them to visit Joey in the hospital while they are in the area. While we don't normally post these kind of requests, the fact that a cop was beat up mercilessly pisses us off, and this seems like a fairly meager request. If you're interested in helping out, fire off an email (or seven...or twenty) to webmaster@kissonline.com. Hopefully he can get a message to the band.
As of today, exclusive photos of BRET MICHAELS' new daughter RAINE can be seen at www.bretmichaels.com. The POISON frontman will participate in a cyberchat at www.yahoo.com next Monday, June 12 at 9 PM ET.
Here's some news that's been floating around the web for a while: GUNS N' ROSES are planning a U.S. tour starting in early July. This news broke on Malcolm Dome's Total Rock Radio show on May 30th when TESTAMENT revealed that they have been offered the chance to support GNR, aong with DIO. "We got a fax with the offer a ew days ago," said guitarist Eric Peterson, "but it's not confirmed as yet." On how Testament got involved vocalist Chuck Billy says, "There's a guy called Del James, with whom I do a lot of songwriting, he also writes with Axl, and I guess he put in a good word for us."
BUCKCHERRY will perform on an hour-long episode of VH1's The List on June 9 at 7 and 11 PM ET/PT, repeated June 11 at 9 AM ET/PT, and the BON JOVI Behind the Music will premiere on the channel on June 11 at 11 AM, 9 PM and 11 PM ET/PT, repeated June 12 at 4 PM ET/PT, and June 13 at 9 PM ET/PT.
According to BRUCE KULICK, the proposed RATT/WARRANT/UNION tour is not going to happen, though at this point Ratt is still plannning to tour. Union flies to Sweden today for a Scandinavian tour, and upon returning home Kulick will continue to work on his biographical book and material for his solo record with CURT CUOMO, which so far has seven songs with vocals. "I'm finally doing my thing, my way, and I'm very happy about it," he says. Kulick plans to ask brother BOB KULICK to play on it--after all, he's playing on "Lord of the Thighs" for Bob's second AEROSMITH tribute disc.
Last week, we mentioned that THE OFFSPRING were selling Napster merchandise on their website. Well, in a colossal example of the pot callin' the kettle black, Napster Inc. has slapped the pop punk band with a legal order demanding that the band stop selling merchandise imprinted with the Napster logo. A source close to the Offspring confirmed to SonicNet (part of the MTVi Group) that the band had been issued the order last Friday. A day earlier, another source in the Offspring camp said that if Napster issued a cease and desist order, it would "expose a huge hypocrisy." The Napster name and logo are trademarks owned by the company, and may not be used by other parties, according to the Napster Web site (www.napster.com). "It's all fair," an Offspring source said on Thursday. "We've already said you guys [can use] our stuff — we're gonna do yours, too. You shouldn't have any problem with that, should you?" (NOTE TO OFFSPRING: Hats off to you, sirs!) At press time, Napster spokesperson Tracy Mlakar had no information on the cease and desist order and could not comment.
