Jackyl frontman solo debut

JACKYL frontman JESSE JAMES DUPREE's solo debut Foot Fetish is released today, and Dupree plans to tour to support it with his new band that includes bassist ROMAN GLICK (ex-BROTHER CANE), guitarist JOHN HAYES and drummer JOHN SKINNER. "Even if it's titled under my name as a solo thing, for the sake of identifying, it's a real band," underlines Dupree, who says he plans to "do a handful of Jackyl tunes" in his set, noting that he played "I Stand Alone" for several years before Jackyl (and in fact wrote it with Hayes). However, he's "planning to leave 'The Lumberjack' as a Jackyl thing," but notes, "That chainsaw has been good to me." Jackyl, he says, is not history. "JEFF (WORLEY) and CHRIS (WORLEY) have a thing called SUPER V that's really cool, kind of REVEREND HORTON HEAT meets THE SEX PISTOLS. TOM (BETTINI) has changed the name of ahis thing a few times so I'm not sure what he's calling it," he says, adding that they're "giving JIMMY (STIFF) space" while he deals with family and personal matters. Meanwhile, Glick's ex-Brother Cane bandmate, frontman DAMON JOHNSON, is now recording with DAMN YANKEES for an album that may feature guest appearances by KID ROCK and JAMES HETFIELD of METALLICA. According to the Official TOTO website, David Paich is not leaving the band (which is contrary to what some internet rumors had reported). He will not be with the band during the European shows in June as he is working in his studio in L.A. producing the long awaited Toto 5 CD Box set. Dave has lined up his friend Jeff Babko to play keyboards for him. Jeff Babko is well known in the TOTO family as a member of Simon Phillips' band. Paich will play live again with the band as soon as his production duties allow him to tour. THE OFFSPRING and Napster have reached an agreement on merchandising. As mentioned previously, The Offspring took it upon themselves to sell T-shirts bearing the Napster logo, and then, in a shocking move by Napster, were slapped with a Cease and Desist order insinuating copyright infringement. Napster has now softened its stance and has announced that it will work with the Offspring to offer Napster merchandise. Napster and the Offspring announced on Monday that they would "work together to offer a more complete line of Napster products." It was also announced that profits from the sale of that merchandise would benefit a charity chosen by Offspring frontman Dexter Holland and Napster head Shawn Fanning. "T-shirts... good," Holland then quipped in the announcement (referring to the Metallica animation featured in the MULTIMEDIA section). Several Greatest Hits compilations are on the way from Universal Records under the banner Millennium Collection, including one from WHITESNAKE on June 27, NIGHT RANGER on July 18, and from both CINDERELLA and THE SCORPIONS on August 8. LIMP BIZKIT's FRED DURST, KORN's JONATHAN DAVIS, COAL CHAMBER's DEZ FAFARA, SERJ TANKIAN and SHAVO ODADJIAN of SYSTEM OF A DOWN, INCUBUS' BRANDON BOYD, SLIPKNOT's COREY TAYLOR, and SEVENDUST's LAJON WITHERSPOON are among the artists paying tribute to the late SNOT frontman LYNN STRAIT on a forthcoming album called Strait Up. The vocalists will be heard singing lyrics they wrote to songs Strait wrote before his death in a 1998 car accident. Proceeds from sales of the album, due out in November, will benefit Strait's widow and son and the surviving Snot members. THIN LIZZY's live album One Night Only has finally been confirmed by SPV and is rush released June 19th. The album was recorded live in Europe last year and features the line up of John Sykes, Scott Gorham, Darren Wharton, Marco Mendoza and Tommy Aldridge. The album was being mixed and mastered as recently as last week in LA by Gorham and Sykes! The track listing is: The Boys Are Back In Town . Jailbreak . Cowboy Song . Waiting For An Alibi . Don't Believe A Word . Cold Sweat . Emerald . Sun Goes Down . Are You Ready . Bad Reputation . Still In Love With You . Rosalie Now on a brief Scandinavian tour with UNION, BRUCE KULICK will appear at FoxxFest 2000 in Chicago, Illinois on August 6. The event, to be held at the Hemmen's Auditorium, is being held in memory of ERIC CARR and will benefit the Children's Memorial Hospital of Chicago. Highlights include local band performances, tribute bands, contests, auctions, and raffles. Tickets cost $10.50 per adult, $5.50 for each child under 12 and can be ordered by credit card at (847) 931-5900 for a $1.50 handling fee.
