Aerosmith tribute cd to be released

AEROSMITH gets the tribute treatment via a double CD called Right in the Nuts, which will be released August 1. Among the bands included: SCISSORFIGHT, RAGING SLAB, ROADSAW and ATOMIC BITCHWAX. Usually, summer radio festivals are pretty tame; a bunch of bands playing to a bunch of bands, and everyone's having fun... except of course for the KROCK Dysfunctional Family Picnic. This annual concert turned hairy last Friday, as LIMP BIZKIT and CREED traded barbs during their sets. The bands shared a bill with STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, OZZY OSBOURNE, DEFTONES, GODSMACK, SEVENDUST, and others, and Limp ruffled some feathers before even taking the stage by showing up at the event an hour late. While thanking the fans for coming out, Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland said, "You guys are the ones that take the day off from work, you guys are the ones who spend the money on the tickets, you guys are the ones who drive around here from all these states from within the vicinity, and you know what? It ain't f***in' cool to keep people waiting for an hour for a f***ing show, no matter what." A spokesman for Interscope Records told MTV News that there was confusion over Limp's set time, but things got even weirder when Durst launched into a rant against Creed frontman Scott Stapp onstage. Stapp himself seemed to address the comment (and the band's critics in general) during Creed's set, saying, "It takes a lot more guts to say something to somebody than from behind their backs." During an appearance on Monday's edition of "Total Request Live," Durst said that after the set, Creed's camp presented him with an "anger management manual" autographed with a spiritual dedication. BABYLON A.D. returns to rock action with American Blitzkrieg on July 4, and will celebrate its release with a party a few weeks later, July 28, at Hobies in Concord, California followed by gigs at the Shack in Anaheim, California on August 4, Pink E.'s in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 5, Paladino's in Reseda, California on August 11, and Pleasures in Pasadena, California on August 12. Seattle's $240 million Experience Music Project officially opened with a crash on Friday as Paul Allen, the Microsoft multibillionaire who spent big bucks to create the interactive rock and roll museum, imitated his hero Jimi Hendrix and christened the museum by hurling a glass guitar to the ground. An estimated 120,000 people swarmed the Seattle Center grounds over the weekend to rock out to METALLICA, EMINEM, KID ROCK, DR. DRE, the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, FILTER, and the legendary JAMES BROWN. For the crowd, the allure was obvious, with NO DOUBT, BECK, MATCHBOX 20, and the rest rolling into town for what could be the summer's biggest concert. For the bands, however, the benefits in helping Allen launch his interactive rock dream were numerous. Some came to be part of history and hobnob with fellow chart heavyweights; others came to check out EMP's bold new digs; and still others were in the market for a paycheck. Before getting to work on a new album, Canada's I MOTHER EARTH will hit the road in their native Canada on June 29 in Thunder Bay, Ontario and will tour through August 26 in Comox, British Columbia.
