First Eight people get crushed at a PEARL JAM concert in Denmark, and now a young man falls to his death at the Summer Sanitarium tour on July 4th in Baltimore, Maryland between the sets by KID ROCK and KORN. MARTIN MUSCHETTE, 21, fell 80 feet over a guardrail on the PSINet Stadium's fifth story, landing outside the venue. Police are investigating whether the man jumped or was pushed, and toxicology tests are being conducted. METALLICA, the tour's headliner, said in a statement that the band is "absolutely devastated. Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the victim's family and friends in their time of grief." The tour will continue as scheduled, next stopping in Atlanta, Georgia on July 7.
Recovering from the dismal sales of UNION's Blue Room disc, JOHN CORABI will occupy the vacant guitarist slot left by KERI KELLY. Yes, you heard right. The former singer for MOTLEY CRUE and current (hopefully) singer of UNION has been bumped down a few ranks and is now playing guitar for RATT on tour this summer. It looks like the Metal Sludge guys were the first to pick up on this, and then the email started flying towards us.
Former SOUNDGARDEN frontman CHRIS CORNELL and his wife, ALICE IN CHAINS manager Susan Silver, have just become the proud parents of a baby daughter, named Lillian Jean Cornell. She was born in Seattle on June 28, and weighed in at 7 pounds, 12 ounces. Cornell is said to be ecstatic about the birth of Lillian, and will likely be spending the next few months as a house dad to the child.
