HAIR OF THE DOG LOSES GUITAIST
JOHN SEPETYS, guitarist for HAIR OF THE DOG, issued a statement on Metal Sludge's site explaining his resignation from the band. For once, this isn't one of those dopey "creative differences" announcements. He has developed what's known as "focal hand dystonia." It's a relatively rare condition found mostly in classical violin players and piano players. As a result of repetitive, fine motor movements performed over a long period of time, the cortex of the brain becomes unable to recognize the individual fingers on the left hand. Consequently, the fingers have trouble moving independently and often seem to respond with "a mind of their own." Dystonias are normally the result of a genetic predisposition and they've been know to spread to others parts of the body and even effect speech, eyesight, and memory. The condition is confined to Brian's hand, but unforunately, there's no known cure. It's pretty crappy when hard-working guys get dealt a bad hand like this (no pun intended).
