NAPSTER...FUN WHILE IT LASTED

As you probably already know, Napster's efforts to filter out thousands of titles of copyrighted musical works...aren't working. Even though Napster's sixty-plus employees are working constantly to filter out all possible variations of song titles, searches for METALLICA songs, as well as songs by N'SYNC and BRITNEY SPEARS...with alternative spellings, or mis-spellings...have enabled slippery users to find and swap music. To add more insult to this festering, steaming pile of injury, The RIAA has submitted another 135,000 titles of copyrighted works to the folks at Napster to be filtered out...Of course, all of those will have alternate spellings as well. Meanwhile, there are scads of similar file sharing programs popping up all over the internet. Some are as easy to use as Napster, and some are a bit more difficult. It's safe to say that the Recording Industry is going to be playing "whack a mole" with the makers of these programs for a while trying to get them all under control. Oh well...it was fun while it lasted.
