MANIC STREET PREACHERS COLLECTION FOREVER DELAYED ARRIVES OCTOBER 29th
PRESS RELEASE:
New York, NY - Epic Records is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Forever Delayed, a collection of the very best of Manic Street Preachers.
Practically worshipped in their native U.K., the Manics(as they are affectionately know) have at once
persevered and thrived over their 13 year career. Influenced by seminal British imports such as The
Smiths, Joy Division and Queen, the Manics burst on the scene in 1991 with the release of Generation Terrorists, their major label debut. In short order the Manics became known throughout Europe for their
politically charged, working class brand of intelligent rock and roll. On the eve of the Manic's 1995 U.S. tour in support of their third album Holy Bible, the band's artistically brilliant but extremely unstable rhythm guitarist and principle lyricist Richey James disappeared. He was never found.
Undaunted, surviving members James Bradfield, Sean Moore and Nicky Wire continued on. Their efforts culminated with the release of 1996's Everything Must Go. A surprisingly optimistic and emotive album, its first single "A Design For Life" reached #2 on the UK
charts. Shortly thereafter the band won its first two Brit Awards(the U.K. equivalent of the Grammys) for Best Album and Best Band. At the 1999 Brit Awards their next record This Is My Truth To Tell followed suit - it was the first and only time in the Brit Awards
history that a band captured Best Album and Best Band for successive releases.
A valentine for long-time fans and an opportunity for American music lovers to see what they've been missing, Forever Delayed features the best of their 26 Top 40 U.K. singles as well as never before compiled
early releases and two new songs. The set's first single There By The Grace Of God will be serviced to radio in early November. In addition, a limited number of copies will also include a bonus disc of songs from the album remixed by a bevy of notable artists
including The Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack, Mogwai and Stereolab.
Forever Delayed will be in stores on October 29th.
