Mike Moreno of 3 Mile Scream

We were lucky enough to snag Mike Moreno of 3 Mile Scream for a few moments, sure he kicked and screamed, but we got him, didn't we? We decided that after a few minutes of torturous questions, we'd let him go, but we kept the interview material, so we can give it to you, kiddies. So take a looksie at the following Q&A and be glad that we've improved our patented Rock Star Capture System.

*Note: No Rock Stars were actually harmed in the making of this online feature.

FoundryMusicRob: You seem to incorporate a lot of influences into your sound from Death Metal to bit of Thrash and Hardcore. Describe your sound to someone that's never heard you before.....

Mike Moreno: Melodic Death Metal with Thrash elements, we try to incorporate all our diverse influences into a broad, out-stretching sound that can appeal to any kind of Metal fan and maybe even a few non Metal fans.

FoundryMusicRob: While I enjoy the genre, the term "Metalcore" has often been considered a negative thing. What do you think about the labeling of Metal?

Mike Moreno: It's gotten out of control, everything seems to be some kind of "Core" lately. Whatever happened to good old Metal? Yes, on this record there are some Hardcore elements and some other elements that don't fall under the purist Metal category, but we're just a bunch of Metalheads writing songs. Call them and label them what you will.

FoundryMusicRob: Tell us a little bit about the recording of "A Prelude To Our Demise;" what the vibe was like in the studio, who you worked with and what you set out to accomplish?

Mike Moreno: We worked with J-F Dagenais of Kataklysm, that was really quite an experience, he really worked us hard and got the best posible performance out of us. That recordiing experience really taught us a lot.

FoundryMusicRob: Can you give us some insight into the record lyrically and where you're coming from?

Mike Moreno: Although I am not the singer...::laughs::, basically the lyrics were indicating that the things going on in today's world are taking us to a dark place and we have to find a way to head in a new direction towards more productive outcomes

Say, that's a nice chain link fence you've got there!

FoundryMusicRob: Writing, recording, and touring can be a very stressful process at times. What do you do to unwind from that stress?

Mike Moreno: SLEEP...::laughs:: we all have our own way of winding down and kinda "getting away from it all;" either through simple relaxation to other careers and fields of interest, or just taking a break

FoundryMusicRob: Give us your best story from the road....

Mike Moreno: That would take 3 pages....::laughs:: although going out of town and playing to 2 people, not knowing that Killswitch Engage was playing right down the block would be right up there. ::laughs::

FoundryMusicRob: You've been praised by some pretty big names like Lamb of God, Unearth and God Forbid lately. What's your reaction to some of the biggest names talking about 3 Mile Scream?

Mike Moreno: It's extremely flattering, we've been fortunate enough to make some strong ties and friendships with these people and the fact that they would publicly praise us like that really gives us a sense that what we are doing is touching people and that the music is getting across.

FoundryMusicRob: You are about to shoot a video for "Blackened Sun," can you tell us a little bit about it?

Mike Moreno: Same kind of lyrical point that we touched on in the earlier question, the video will be a performance video done in a way to capture the intensity and energy of the song, and the band.

See? What a nice guy that Mike is! So nice that we'll even throw in a link to his band's site. 3 Mile Scream
