INTERVIEW WITH SCUM OF THE EARTH FRONTMAN RIGGS

Here we have another interview with Scum of The Earth frontman Riggs. This interview was inspired and based on the events that happened involving his son and a teacher, which made headlines months ago. We talk a lot about details regarding that situation as well as everyone's favorite subject: Music. Well, it's our favorite subject anyway. So if you don't like it, go screw.

FoundryMusicRob: First off, I’d like this interview to focus mostly on what happened not too long ago with your son and his teacher. I think these days there are far too many people, politicians and civilians alike, which are living outside the bounds of what our U.S. Constitution really outlined for us. Basically, people are living unconstitutionally, but if you tell them that, they think you’re some kind of radical. Why is it that the same people that talk about how great it is here and how many rights we have are constantly working towards stripping us of those very rights?

Riggs: A few things come to mind …
Besides being a ton of god fearing ignorant assholes I would have to narrow it down to the negative percentile and say I think it’s a way to keep control over everyone … Tell you what you have to do and have to say and what you are not suppose to do and not suppose to say … BRAINWASHING ! Being PC and thinking your cool for it …  .
As for the constitution …
Who is even keeping up with it besides the ACLU ?

FoundryMusicRob: For those who don’t know, basically, your son wore one of your band’s t-shirts, and was reprimanded for the artwork and forced to pray to Jesus on his knees in the hallway. That’s the short version of course. Let’s be serious here about this, the people who follow the examples of the Biblical Jesus don’t really ever get his message right, do they? Didn’t the Biblical Jesus preach tolerance and love? Not dominance and reprimand?

Riggs: It depends on who you ask … people think jesus is god some people think jesus was gods son some people think mohammad was a messenger and prophet of god …  I like Einsteins take on it  !
1"The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish."

2 “I am convinced that a vivid consciousness of the primary importance of moral principles for the betterment and ennoblement of life does not need the idea of a law-giver, especially a law-giver who works on the basis of reward and punishment “

FoundryMusicRob: Be honest, how many goats do you sacrifice per year? Not including Super Bowl Sunday.

Riggs: 13

FoundryMusicRob: Is it true that when your son was forced to pray on his knees that his tongue lit on fire and his head spun 360 degrees?

Riggs: Yeah … and he spit pea soup on the teacher in the hallway …

FoundryMusicRob: Again, on the serious side, what kind of action was taken against this teacher? I know that at the time all that was reported was a faculty meeting. Which is an incredibly lame way of saying “We’ll consider a punishment, but it probably won’t happen.” If you ask me, it wouldn’t be enough to fire her, I’d say revoke her teaching license.

Riggs: I talked to the schools powers that be and they didn’t see anything wrong with the shirt and swear up and down that the teacher is the nicest person I’d ever meet …
So they didn’t punish her or make my son take the shirt off , but he wont wear it anymore just to avoid the headache …
And there is not suppose to be any repercussions for actions taken against the teacher or school , but we all know that’s a load of shit so we grin and bear it , which takes us back to the first question …

FoundryMusicRob: The t-shirt in question was a piece of artwork. Like all art, it’s open to interpretation. A monster on a cross may not be very hard to interpret, but then again, if you were to have an image of a woman dressed in blue standing on top of a crescent moon, the pagans would probably start screaming about how you are putting Christian art out there. (The Virgin Mary standing on the crescent moon is not just about her divinity, it’s a direct translation of the moonlike horns that were worn by the Moon Goddess Diana in Roman Mythology, the religion that was directly replaced by Christianity) So, since nobody can make everyone happy, do you think the world would be better off without any art, any music, and any writing of any kind other than factual, non-fiction, encyclopedias?

Riggs: I think the world would be better off without GOD … but then I wouldn’t have as many people to piss off with artwork and music …

FoundryMusicRob: Religious fanatics aside, what kind of reaction does your pig blood guitar, or the genuine leather skin guitar get from animal rights activists?

Riggs: Oh fuck … Nothing , because everyone is too afraid of peta to deal with it …
I had an opportunity to be on Kat Von D’s LA Ink show and have the pig skin guitar tattooed and everyone there was to afraid of peta or didn’t want to tattoo a pentagram …
So , I was never on the show … One dude told our publicist he would do the devil on the cross with 666 but no pentagram … Whatever ! … its non stop with all the uptight bullshit with everything !

FoundryMusicRob: This country was built by people escaping religious persecution, what do you think the founding fathers would have to say right about now?

Riggs: Keep going west ! or turn around and fucking kill them all !

FoundryMusicRob: What was the news coverage like in town regarding the incident with your son, or in your county or state? On one hand I’d imagine it’d be a pretty news-worthy story, on the other hand I’m sure the religious right would keep something like this under wraps.

Riggs: We didn’t do anything … Like I said earlier it will just make it worse … The local paper wanted to do a story about a lot of these things , but I didn’t want to do it because then I would have 300 more people following me around town with 8 x 10’s of jesus and leaving stupid pamphlets on my door step …
They gave me a choice years ago … move out of town or come to church and be saved from the devil … they eventually found someone or something else to occupy their time with …

FoundryMusicRob: Again, thanks for your time, and for your patience with our big batch of stupid here. Please feel free to plug away anything you wish.

Riggs: We have a line of made to order iPods coming out soon … very cool , you can drag and drop from many different designs onto the iPod and place and size them how ever you would like it to look and its then engraved …
Tons of shit going on , keep checking our sites for tour dates and news …
HAIL SATAN

There you have it folks. Ya can't fight City Hall. Or can you? I don't know. All I know is Riggs was a real sport and we always enjoy his interviews. Plus, if you ever need 8x10s of Jesus just ask him, I'm sure he's got tons leftover.

Check out the band's official site for all of you Scum of the Earth needs!
