New Life Crisis
New Life Crisis, by Paul Mahos really surprised me. Paul’s vocals, similar to Bono of U2, are quite smooth. For a pop album, New Life Crisis is above average. Most all the songs are listenable, and I found three songs in particular I find myself going back to. “Dirty Little Girl”, the opening track, is by far my favorite cut. Jeff Allegue, lead guitarist for the band, accompanies the lyrics and vocals of Paul Mahos to make this song great. Another song that hit my radar, was ‘Revolution”, which reminds me of the song, Republica‘s “Ready To Go”.
The DVD was not quite as interesting as I had hoped. It consists of six music videos, followed by a short documentary film featuring the band and its associates. Almost all of the videos were over edited, utilizing almost every cliché effect used at MTV during the eighties. The videos could have been so much better if they had focused on the shots, and not the effects.
As we all know though, most of us listen to the music, and that’s the most important. And going by that, the music on New Life Crises is enjoyable and polished.
