December 16, 2007 - It took about 12 seconds for the 15-story Stubbs Towers to collapse into a pile of rubble Saturday morning.
The structure, built in 1970, was imploded without complications by the D.H. Griffin Wrecking Co.
The 8 a.m. demolition began with a 10-second countdown and ended with a chorus of cheers from onlookers standing 700 feet away on a closed section of East Anderson Street.
A former housing authority complex, Stubbs served low-income senior citizens before closing in 2004 because of age and disrepair.
