fleeing suspect in oakland, ca rams police car

June 12, 2008 - Dashboard camera footage shows a man with several outstanding warrants deliberately ramming a stolen truck into a patrol vehicle to escape capture. Andrew Anthony Struzyk, 38, was on parole for malicious destruction of property, breaking and entering, drugs and first-degree home invasion when a deputy attempted a traffic stop on the truck he was said to be driving at about 1:45 a.m. near the corner of Teinken and Rochester roads. The truck instead went into the Van Hoosen Stoney Creek Cemetery on Sheldon Road, off of Teinken Road, and began ramming the patrol vehicle that had followed it, authorities said. The patrol vehicle was badly damaged. The truck was then driven off, heading west toward Rochester Road. The truck was found a short time later with the engine running. The deputy was taken to an area hospital for examination and Rochester Hills firefighters responded to the cemetery because smoke was coming from the patrol vehicle. During a search of the area, a deputy spotted Struzyk walking near the corner of Romeo Road and Sycamore Drive, south of where the attempted traffic stop took place. Deputies determined the truck was stolen from a business in Waterford Township. The deputy had only minor injuries and was released from the hospital.
