metallica's james hetfield builds huge fence and pisses off neighbors
August 18, 2008 - According to NBC 11, METALLICA frontman James Hetfield recently had a fence built on a piece of property he owns on a Terra Linda hillside in Marin County. His contractor said his land was getting vandalized. The problem is that the new fence is blocking a fire road long used by hikers, bicyclists and equestrians to access the open space. People who use the area for hiking, biking and horseback riding said that fencing off the area is an insult to the community. Officials with the Marin County Open Space District are working with Hetfield to try and reach an agreement. Hetfield has been generous in the past, donating a 438-acre piece of land to the open space district.
