Mattel released "Read Repeatin' Tarzan" in the summer of 1999 based on Disney's animated TARZAN film. The doll itself was harmless enough, but when one button on the back was pressed the "jungle yell" was accompanied by a rapid right-arm jerking motion that looked a lot like the doll was whacking off. Of course, the kids for which the doll was intended would have no idea what their parents were snickering about. Mattel did not change the doll’s design, but did fix the packaging so the “suggestive” arm motions were impossible until the buyer unwrapped the doll outside the store from which it was purchased.
