caught on video: gas explosion at maryland strip mall
May 7, 2009 - A gas leak led to a dramatic explosion in the Penn Mar strip mall in Forestville, in Prince George's County, MD, not far from Washington DC. The local fire department and gas company was investigating reports of a gas leak when the blast lifted off the roof of the building and blew the front windows 70 feet into the street. There were no fatalities, but five firefighters and a gas company employee were seriously injured. One eyewitness said, "I thought a bomb had dropped." All six victims were taken to hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
