13 QUESTIONS WITH SCREAM QUEEN LINNEA QUIGLEY
I was watching Return Of The Living Dead a while back
and there's this one scene during which a punk rock girl gets
naked and starts dancing on a tomb to really bad
80's music. Well, that punk rock girl was Linnea Quigley in case you didn't know.
Man, what a great ass! She's a real legend in the B Horror movie industry, so I was compelled to look her up and ask her if she wouldn't mind answering a few ridiculous questions. I tracked her down through her official website, and fired off a dozen or so questions...blah, blah, blah.
About THREE MONTHS later, she finally got them back to me. Folks, I present to
you...13 questions with Linnea Quigley.
FoundryMusicDanny: Linnea, how do you feel about all these sub-par horror movies that have been released recently like JASON X, JEEPERS CREEPERS and WRONG TURN?
Linnea Quigley: About the movies like Jason X, they should leave a good thing alone and not make it into something stupid. I thought Rob Zombie (House Of 1000 Corpses) did good. That movie "Wrong Turn" was good although I felt it kinda copied "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", but ok. To me it was better than "Blair Witch" and "Scream". Sorry, I just dont like those. I thought Jeepers Creepers was kinda fun.
FMD: I understand that you wore a skin colored latex "thong" foryour scenes as "Trash" in
Return of The Living Dead. What was the reason behind that?
LQ: I wore the skin colored latex to satisfiy the director.
He wanted me to look neither like a man nor women, just like a
Barbie doll. We called it the "Barbie doll appliance". So, it was
actually good, since, that way, I didn't feel totally nude. HAHA.
I had it glued on so, bathroom breaks, I had to be unglued.
FMD: On your website www.linneaquigleycircle.com you sell
X-Rated movies that you appear in. What made you make
the desicion to go down that route?
LQ:I thought I'd show the people. Yeah, I have some stuff I made years
ago, and although I did those films, I'm not into that kind of
stuff anymore. Someone will find it and it's not too awful. I turned down
stuff in Spain one night before a shoot since I hadnt read the whole
script, because to me it was too graphic and didn't think I wanted to do it.
It just felt wrong. I guess I might as well have it out. It's the past,
not the future.
FMD: Whats going on in these movies anyway? Are they
Hardcore? Softcore, just girls? or what?
LQ:The films are softcore. This one in particular, I didn't realize
It was with another woman. The first day of filming they
had my band, The skirts, in it and nothing happened. Then, the next day, I went
"oh no" and realized I'd signed a contract. I was sooo scared to upset people, but
I would have rather not have done it. The one I turned down in Spain, had a
nude girl and man and it just was kinda wrong to me. The scene called for full
nudity and even though it was a short scene, I knew I shouldn't do it.
I just felt funny, I'm not into porno.
FMD: I know you attend many horror conventions, what
exactly goes on there and are there
any coming up that you'd like to tell us about?
LQ:Well, it's great to meet people that are a letter or now
an email finally. I love that the standard convention is
usually late Friday night and then Sat. all day.
Thats the busy day and then after the convention, they
have a costume contest. Alot of times bands and people hang out
and mingle. Alot of people that can play and sing go up and perform. I
got to perform with The Dead Elvi at Chiller and also the Mannimals.
Fun stuff. This year, my band ,The Skirts, yes we are back and better,
played. Now I'm excited. I'll be playing at Screamfest in Florida,
and I hope, hope, hope, the www.frightnights.net show. So please email them
and tell them you want to see The Skirts! It's a great scary show, with hayrides,
haunted house stage shows and stuff. So, anyone who emails them to see The SKirts
and myself, gets a good karma star. Ill be in Cherry Hill soon. Alot going
on at that one, and also nashville. But the best thing to do, is keep
a lookout on my webpage,
www.linneaquigleycircle.com.
FMD: I'm sure you must get at least a few guys a few
sandwiches short of a picnic at those horror conventions.
Whats some of the weirdest/rudest/stalker-esque things
that people have said to you?
LQ:Well, yeah I've had some weird people come up to me. I had some girl
offer me money to go down on her boyfriend and stuff. Thats strange. I have
just had some weird things happen but most of the time they are cool.
I do have three to do this year. One in Nashville, so who knows, and I'll be
promoting Corpses are Forever, which is great film I did here in Miami
in 35mm. Fun Stuff.
FMD:It's widely known that you are a huge supporter
of animal rights and also PETA. I've also
seen
posters for PETA of you dressed in a
lettuce bikini. Was there a "last straw" that
made you get involved?
LQ:As for a stong supporter yes, I am. No meat at all in 16 years and stuff.
I just really get upset at any type of cruelty. I go nuts.
PETA is great, they make a difference. They do lots of things
that are fun to get the public aware. My last straw was seeing Hidden
Crimes on TV on one of those channels that has just stuff from biographies
and history, they graphically showed what they did to animals and the torture
they endured. I had not put two and two together, and I went, "Oh my god! My
goal is to stop this animal experimentation."
(Gee, that's funny. Most people get '4' when putting two and two together... although sometimes they do get '22' - SC) Since it
does nothing to show what the effects are on humans. To me, the animals
should have the same rights as we do.
(-So, Who'd YOU vote for, Mr. Ed? - FMD)
We think we are better. I mean, look at us and the stuff we do and things
we think. It's so wrong. Alot of times, the economy is broken. Crime...
just all this stuff. I love animals and they are, to me, smarter
then us. They can survive. Put some prepy kid out in the wild and
see how long he lasts.
FMD:Does any body get to eat the lettuce when your
done with it?
LQ:Oh the lettuce...well we should have gotten fake lettuce. It was almost
impossible to glue on. I would have it put on, and then not breath so it
wouldn't fall off. They'd take the photo and again and again.
Not good planning. And no one ate the salad I'm sorry to say.
FMD:I understand that you were up for METALLICA's
"Turn The Page" video and won't say why you lost
out. Care to break the silence?
LQ:Oh man I was so heartbroken when I didnt get that video.
I met the casting people and danced. Then got sent to director
and it looked good...and the last minute some one I never dreamed
of got it....
Ginger Lynn. I heard how she got it, but its something
I didnt see so I dont know, but she wanted it really really bad.
I could have gone a little further, alot. But, that, I cant do for a
job. I was really depressed.
(Oh man, that's almost juicy... I mean, Ginger Lynn IS a famous porno chick, so it's not THAT far-fetched that she might have done a dirty deed or two to get the gig in the Metallica video... although that's NOT what Linnea's saying, specifically. Oh man, if only she would... We'll have to get Ginger on the phone. - SC)
FMD:Have any upcoming projects? And if so, who else
is involved?
LQ:I have lots of stuff im really into right now. The music and all. I have been
rehearsing alot and writting new songs. I'll be going to Illinios to
film next week for awhile. Right by my home town too...weird huh. And
I just finished a cool film. "It Came From Trifalgar". I had a blast
in Indiana. Really cool people and film.
Brinke is in it with me. The first
time we'd been in a film together since
Nightmare Sisters. Then I did
one which is being finished, called "Notorious Colonel Steele"
I acted, played guitar and did vocals. That was in Kansas. I got to shoot
guns! Fun stuff. I did a short called "Precious" which is very much like
"The Entity" It took 14 hours to shoot and it's only going to be 20 min long.
I want to work on a documentary so bad I just need to get a camera and some
help editing and all. And I know it will sell, I've been
working on it for long time.
FMD: Hypothetical situation: You're making an appearance at
a horror convention at some local Holiday Inn
convention room, and without warning, the cheesy
chandelier above your head rattles loose and falls on
your head resulting in massive tissue damage, leaving
you crippled, unattractive, and unable to speak... How
is Linnea Quigley going to pay the bills?
LQ:I dont know. Bills are hard to pay as it is. I will watch every
chandelier I'm under from now on. I got a taste of being very ugly and
how people look at you from wearing those masks and all that make-up.
It's creepy and no, I'd die!
FMD:Lets say you had to eat a puppy to continue to be
sucessful in your career, would you do it?
LQ: I wouldn't eat a puppy and I'd just die. And the pup could have me
and then be resuced. Or better yet, we get rescued before any of
this happens. Now i'll have nightmares....thanks.
FMD:Anything else you'd like to add?
LQ:Help me and I'll help you. Lets stay happy and healthy, it's the most
important thing. Stop by my site and say hi! Also, help
bring The Skirts back to life! We will rock you!! Love and screams Linnea
(Well, that was entertaining, now wasn't it? That tidbit about Ginger Lynn was nice. We'll have to do some more digging on that one)
LINNEA WILL BE APPEARING AT MONSTER MANIA CON IN CHERRY HILL, NJ ON SEPTEMBER 28th and 29th (Watch for falling chandeliers)
