That's the Marines version of the Joint Strike Fighter. The Air Force, Navy, and Marines are scheduled to get their own versions, and the basis of the project is to have one basic airframe with some different revisions for each branch. The Navy gets a beefed up suspension and arrestor hook for carrier landings, the Air Force gets longer range and is suited for runway landings, and the Marines get a vertical takeoff like the Harrier. This has been in the works since before 1997 (when I first heard of the project). Yeah I know it means nothing to ya.... now bugger off.
