hostage siege in spain - police car vs. motorcycle
A 12-hour hostage siege at a bank in Alicante, Spain ended spectacularly when the hostage-taker was arrested after crashing into a police car as he tried to escape on a speeding motorcycle. The man, a would-be bank robber who said he was armed with a pistol and a grenade, was allowed to leave the bank where he had been holding the last two of eight hostages. The hostages were reported to be unharmed. He got onto a motorcycle he had asked for and sped off, but a police car intercepted him. The hostage-taker was taken away in an ambulance.
