man drives suv into convenience store, steals atm
February 6, 2008 - At about 2:20am, police say Eric Figueroa, 39, of Florida, Orange County, drove his Mercury SUV through the front of the Vails Gate Food Mart at 362 New Windsor Highway in New Windsor, NY. He went inside, stole the ATM machine and loaded it into his truck, police said. After watching the store's security video, Detective Dan Breen recognized Figueroa's vehicle from a traffic stop several months earlier. Police went to Figueroa's residence and located the vehicle in the driveway, still covered in debris and broken glass, police said. After obtaining a search warrant, police found the ATM in the kitchen. Figueroa was stopped and arrested by Town of Newburgh police on unrelated charges and was interviewed by New Windsor detectives soon after. Figueroa was charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief, both felonies.
