kimbo slice busts open james thompson's ear
May 31, 2008 - Kimbo Slice, who has legions of fans on the Internet, stayed unbeaten with a technical knockout of James "The Collosus" Thompson in EliteXC's event at the Prudential Center. The card was the first live mixed martial arts competition broadcast by network television -- CBS. Just 36 seconds into the third round, Slice put an end to the staggering Thompson -- first with a hymaker to th left ear, followed up by a series of blows before referee Dan Miragliotta intervened as the losing grappler's bloody ear was left hanging grotesquely. Thompson's rcord fell to (16-9) at the hands of the mighty Slice, who was recently featured on the cover of ESPN the Magazine. Thompson had been leading after the first two rounds until Slice picked up steam and came back fighting to the delight of fans at ringside.
