boeing 720b aircraft demolition
June 21, 2008 - This demolition of a Boeing 720B experimental aircraft was completed in roughly 4 1/2 hours. Honeywell purchased the aircraft in 1987 and used it to test a variety of engines. Plans were developed to retire it near the end of 2007 and transition future engine flight testing to the newer B757. The last flight of the B720 was on Dec 29, 2007. Honeywell considered donating it to a museum, parting out the aircraft for potential sale or destruction. For a variety of reasons they chose to destroy the aircraft.
