caught on video: plane crash at lake hood in anchorage
June 7, 2009 - A young man was videotaping airplanes taking off at Lake Hood in Anchorage, Alaska. A gust of wind sent this de Havilland beaver plane (a single engined, high wing, propeller-driven, Short-Take-Off-and-Landing...or STOL aircraft) right toward him. The plane couldn't build up enough airspeed to take off and crashed seconds after takeoff. The whole nail-biting incident was caught on video.
