October 16, 2007 - An Amtrak train crashed into a car that broke down on the tracks of Highway 290 just after midnight Tuesday, police said. Police said a woman was making a left turn to cross the tracks when her car broke down on the tracks. A nearby police officer pulled the woman out of her car just before the passenger train slammed into the car, police said. The train dragged the car a half-mile before both the car and the front engine of the train burst into flames, police said.
