December 23, 2007 - Shortly after ABC7 Chicago's 10 p.m. broadcast began Sunday, a minivan crashed into the front of the State Street Studio, creating a loud noise and startling the ABC7 News Team inside.
Police arrived on the scene at 190 N. State Street a few minutes later. No confirmed details on how the accident occurred were immediately available, but ABC7's Ravi Baichwal, who was anchoring at the time, estimated that the crash happened about 15 to 20 feet away from the news desk.
Following the crash, a piece of glass likely thousands of pounds heavy was situated above the minivan, creating a dangerous situation at the southern end of the studio window.
