January 16, 2009 - January 16, 2009 - After announcing his retirement from acting in October 2008, Joaquin Phoenix (who has gained some weight and has a mountain man beard) takes the stage at LAVO (in the Palazzo Hotel and Casino) in Las Vegas to debut his rapping career.
Phoenix, 34, rapped to the sounds of a drum beat and encouraged the crowd to dance. Though dancing was at a minimum, the crowd watched intently as a scraggly Phoenix – who donned a scraggly beard, long, unkempt hair and a ripped gray hat – hopped up and down and pumped his fist in the air during certain lyrics.
After his performance, Phoenix jumped around on the catwalk, and subsequently lost his balance and fell off the stage into the (we hope unimpressed) crowd.
