LYVE

Hoo boy! Even a drunkered up, shriveled old coot like me likes to head down south and rock wit' the hillbillies. Last July, I made my way down to Nashville to check out mah boys in LYNYRD SKYNYRD, cuz thems wuz playin' the AmSouth Amphitheatre. Ya know, it woulda been werth all the hitch-hikin' if I actually had my ass a ticket to the show...but ya know, I didn't...and I got my ass beat when I tried to sneak in to sees 'em.

I woulda been reeely bummed out, ya know...but almost a year after, I gets a copy of Lyve from the bossman, and I can checks out the show I dun missed in Tennessee. Thanks boss!

Anywhoo... my Skynyrd boyz is playin' in front of 17,000 drunkered up blue collar mawfuggers, and playin' all the hits made famous by ...uhh...the earlier vershun of the band. See, Johnny Van Zant is my boy and all...but he ain't no Ronnie Van Zant. And even though thems is celebratin' their 30th anniversary as a band, most o' this band ain't the original band...but ya can't really get too pissed off at 'em, ya know...cuz the original guys is dead.

There's a few cool ass moments on Lyve; "Tuesday’s Gone," "The Way" and "Freebird," alls gots a string section in 'em now. "What’s Your Name" and "Call Me The Breeze." also gots a horn section in 'em. Theys even managed to fit in "That's How I Like It", from last year's disc, Vicious Cycle.

I thinks if yer a Skynyrd fan, yer gonna wanna check out Lyve, cuz there ain't nuthin' like listenin' to "Sweet Home Alabama" gettin rocked by an arena filled up with knuckleheads.

If yer only familiar with the Skynyrd hits, then...maybe you should see sit this one out.

Thanks boss... I'm goin' drinkin'!
