LIT
It's a shame LIT's last disc,
Atomic came and went without much notice, but that's not the band's fault. Shit, our own FoundrymusicHammer LOVED that disc (as did many other reviewers), but if the label isn't pushing you, there's not much you can do other than just tour your ass off and hope people dig what you're doing. It's weird too, because these guys did well with
A Place In The Sun and "My Own Worst Enemy"....so why RCA didn't give them more of a push is anyone's guess (actually, what happened was the label trimmed a shitload of personnel, brought in Clive Davis, and all of a sudden, the numbers in Lit's rolodex didn't mean as much).
So, Lit signed with DRT and releases their
self-titled fourth disc, and proves that they're not even remotely down and out.
The first track, "Too Fast For a U-Turn" is a classic big fat rock hook that inspires stupid rock face-making. The first single, "Looks like they were Right" picks up where "My Own Worst Enemy" left up, confirming the "Yes, I am indeed that much of a bonehead" theme from the first. The cover of the CURE's "Pictures of You" is unexpected, but very close to the original while still sounding like a Lit song.
There's also a bonus DVD with this disc that reminds you of how rock bands SHOULD behave; Like stumbling, bumbling, cursing dumbasses surrounded by naked women.
Suddenly, being a rock star seems cool again.
