DEADLY LULLABYES LIVE
I’ve been a
KING DIAMOND fan for years, and this album is exactly what I’ve been waiting for: A double live album with bite! King nails every note and the band sounds better than ever before. Mike Weed and Andy LaRocque are an awesome team on guitar. I have never been able to see King live, and this album laid to rest any worries about his vocal ability out of the studio. There’s no other way of saying “Each song sounded perfect, the guys did a great job” without sounding repetitive.
I’m not usually one to get into the whole “They didn’t play this song” thing, but I do wish there were more songs from Them and House of God. Regardless though, this wasn’t meant to be a “Best of” kind of album, so the set list is more than sufficient. If I hated every song they played, I would still give this a great review just for the encore, which was of course, “Halloween” and “No Presents for Christmas.” One thing I really loved about King’s vocals was that you didn’t get the typical vocal fatigue halfway through the set. Most bands that really have to exert themselves to sing live usually end up with their voices getting a little weak by the end of the night because their throats are ready to give away, not King! Everything on this album is perfect, right down to the mix. If you are a King Diamond fan, you absolutely cannot let this one go without adding it to your collection!
