I don’t know much about SUBMERSED, but the band’s history isn’t really all that important anyway, at least not when it comes to whether or not I like the music. I’ll be straightforward, these guys would sound much better if the singer would lose those damn high notes. The vocals aren’t terrible, he actually has a nice voice, what pisses me off are those damn falsetto high notes he hits, very few people can pull that off, this guy can’t. The music itself is good though, the songs don’t really have a ton of hooks, so you have to listen closely to find the impressive stuff, but it’s definitely there. The dynamics are great, throwing in some rock and hard rock songs and mixing in some mellow K-Rock Radio kinda stuff. They play solos too, and these days that’s a rare find so I usually have to comment if a band does that, as long as they are written well. If I had to compare them to someone, I’d say they almost sort of remind me of the typical Nickelback stuff you hear on the radio. I’m not bashing these guys, they have talent, the singer just needs to lose that damn high shit, it doesn’t work for him.
