Did I miss something? This CD by the SOLEDAD BROTHERS bored the hell out of me, in fact, I want those 55 minutes of my life back. Guys, this sound has been done and done and done to death, and the biggest problem is that it was done and done to death by the guys who created this sound! I don’t care if your influences are The BEATLES or the ROLLING STONES, you can’t make a living copying them. This album sounds like someone took The BEATLES, The ROLLING STONES, BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD and a tiny bit of The DOORS, smashed it all together and tried to pass it off as the original. The tempo of most of the songs will lull you to sleep, making it hard to hate or enjoy (whichever you choose) the rest of the album. Those bands I mentioned have influenced lot’s of people, but not many try to sound just like them. Then again, I’m not sure if these guys were influenced by those bands, but I’m taking a shot in the dark and going to go on assumption here.
I don’t like when I have to be totally negative in a review, because I know that making music isn’t easy and getting people to like it is just as hard, and I’d like to acknowledge the effort that went into this. But then again, who is going to acknowledge me for trying to find something positive each time?
In the words of Mr. Horse: “No sir, I don’t like it.”
