OK, well, it’s not necessarily my kind of music, but it’s not that bad either. CODESEVEN obviously put a lot of thought and emotion into their music. The music isn’t necessarily bold, the musicianship isn’t impressive, but that doesn’t mean that it has to be, either. Mediocrity works just fine with this style of music, because stuff like this focuses more on the feeling behind the vocals and lyrics rather than the guitar playing, and you can tell they’re not out to dazzle anyone with guitar solos or drum breaks.
What you have here is very relaxed, laid back, soothing music. I’m not sure if there’s many radio stations that would spin these guys, simply because I can’t really put my finger on what kind of music they’d be classified as; whatever it is, it’s some form of rock, just not necessarily the commercial kind. With the right marketing, these guys could go places, it would take a substantial push to get them the attention they’d need, but if they can manage to get the right kind of help from their label and PR executives then it could work out well. For one, their mellow approach and stylings will make them a hit with the female crowd. Their sound almost reminds me of HOOBASTANK’s “The Reason.”
