THE EMPIRES OF THE WORLDS

Let me start off by saying I don’t like the vocals on BIOMECHANICAL's The Empires of the Worlds much. The highs are too forced, and growls sound silly, the clean vocals are ok though, and of course there are exceptions where the screams and growls aren’t as bad as other times. On the other hand though, I don’t think a band with this much musical skill would really be doing this kind of music for you to like the vocals. I am a guitar freak, I love good guitar playing, to me it’s the most important part of any band (next to a drummer who can at least keep a solid beat). With that said, I think The Empires of the Worlds is really incredible, as far as the guitar work goes, at least. With the solos that swirl around your head so fast they can make you dizzy and crunchy rhythms that get stuck in your head long after the song is over, it’s safe to say these guys have had a few guitar lessons that have paid off. The backbone of this music is very solid as well, the drummer can absolutely keep a solid beat and the bass player does an awesome job at accenting everything the rhythm guitars are doing. The overall sound of the music lacks nothing as far as power is concerned, the only problem I have is that these guys would never make it in an American market. With all the strength in the underground and all the steam that’s been building around bands like this, it would be hard to expect their music to see the light of day in any music chain store location. It’s a shame too because BIOMECHANICAL have the musicianship that most bands need to hear, to get that extra kick in the ass they all could use these days. In a society dominated by American Idol and all the rest of the phony pop crap, it’s great to hear that there are talented bands attempting music like this. I say that because most bands that I have heard that compare to Biomechanical are total crap.
