BE LIVE DVD
Wow, PAIN OF SALVATION really won me over with this DVD. I had liked their music before but never gave the
BE album much of a chance, I never took the time to listen to it.
BE, The DVD changed my mind, though. The performances of these songs are absolutely incredible. They have the stage set up with the orchestra, multimedia effects, it’s all there and it’s all great. The music is amazing as well, orchestra styled music with hints of Rock, Prog, and even some Bluesy-Jazzy influence in there. DVDs rarely are able to capture all the stage presence an artist has, because you are forced to look wherever the cameraman feels like making you look. But this time its not all about stage presence, it’s about the message that the music and lyrics carry, a message about faith, about existence, and how science and religion can be all tied in together. The performance is great and so is the music.
Extras! Every DVD has extras! Well, almost every DVD has extras.
BE has many levels of extras, so many menus that I really couldn’t look through every single one. One thing that I did take the time to watch and listen to though, is a section called “9 Days” with a bunch of messages to God. During the show you hear cell phone voice mails to God, regular people praying, but in voice mail form. Many people asking God for advice, asking why the world is so cruel, asking why their loved ones must suffer, and of course, looking for help in relationships. It is an incredibly deep thing to look at and listen to, and to be honest, incredibly depressing, but at the same time you can’t seem to turn it off, you need to hear what else people are praying for.
The
BE DVD, and the message it carries is not for the type of person who doesn’t like to think deeply and reflect on things, you will be bored, and most likely hate it. But if you are open to this style, you will absolutely enjoy it.
