BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL
With a passion for relentless, twisted modern hardcore, Manchester, UK-based BEECHER have driven my eardrums crazy. Maybe I’m not the right guy to be doing all these Hardcore reviews, but then again, I have a lot of anger to vent sometimes so it’s good for me.
So here’s the thing, summer is coming and I am working out more so that maybe I can be in better shape for the beach this year. I figured a band with a name like Beecher would be good workout music, since it’s only a few letters different from Beach, which is why I’m working out in the first place. I discovered two things: 1) I must stop making assumptions, and 2) I still don’t like Hardcore any more than before. I must say, their music does not exactly make good workout music, maybe good fighting music though. Lot’s of anger and screaming, in fact, some of the screaming sounds painful. There’s definitely some rage in there, but not good for working out, no rhythm. Then I remembered something, Hardcore rarely has rhythm, so at least that part made sense.
I didn’t like the vocals too much, they had their moments but so few I can’t even think of a song to use as an example. Nothing was memorable, maybe because the whole album sounded like one big long track. This is actually a reissue of Beecher’s debut album, and it comes with 4 bonus BBC Radio One Rock Show session tracks and 2 bonus studio tracks, one of which is a remix. Great value for those of you who are into Hardcore, not for me though.
