GET BEHIND ME SATAN
You would think that after the success of
White Blood Cells and
Elephant, The WHITE STRIPES would phone it in. Instead, they've made the best album of their career.
With
Get Behind Me Satan, the concept hasn't changed: Jack and Meg White interpreting their rock, blues, country and pop influences. The change up comes with a heavy incorporation of piano, marimba, bells and tambourine. The results are still the same - great low fi, no BS rock n roll. From guitar-fuzz assaults ('Blue Orchid', 'Instinct Blues' and 'Red Rain'), funky pop ('Denial Twist' and 'My Doorbell') and straight up country and bluegrass ('Little Ghost' and 'I'm Lonely), there's really something for everyone. It's one of my favorite CDs to come out this year.
