IN DISGUST WE TRUST
MISTRESS has a presence I have never heard on an album before. Their sound is very in-your-face but without being too overbearing. Their sound is a blend of Grindcore and Hardcore Punk. Usually I don’t even give stuff like this more than a minute or so before I already make my mind up, call it shit, and call it a day.
In Disgust We Trust got a little more of my attention though.
While not my favorite kind of music, there was something about Mistress’ music that made me listen. It’s incredibly intense, the guitar riffs are a chunky as Rosie O’Donnell’s thighs, and just as heavy! The drums are bold and along with the bass this band has a backbone like I’ve never experienced from a band with a sound like this. In Disgust We Trust, I can already tell that you could expect some busted heads at one of their shows. They are not going to be heard on mainstream rock radio, especially with songs like “Fucking Fuck,” “Alcohole,” and “Whiskey Tastes Better…” Personally, that last song title stood out and puzzled me…how could whiskey get any better?
