Aperitif for Destruction
You might think that having his music featured in last year's
Day Of The Dead remake might make RICHARD CHEESE feel a little elitist, or might make him take some chances with a formula that has made him such a household name....but no, Dick Cheese is ever the consummate professional, dedicated to his craft.
Before PAUL ANKA even contemplating doing an album like
Rock Swings, the almighty Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine were churning out the loungy hits by the dozen.
On his fourth disc, cleverly titled
Aperitif For Destruction, Richard Cheese takes on songs that have been brought NEARLY to completion by many of today's top artists...and makes them complete. Dare I say he makes them 'perfect'. Take for example "Me So Horny", which leads off this disc. 2 LIVE CREW brought this song as close to the finish line as they possibly could, and it was a decent composition when it was initially released. However, once Richard got his hands (and silky smooth pipes) on it, there is no question that it is as close to perfection as it is going to be (you will never hear a white man say 'oh, me so horny' with so much authority as you do in this version).
Who would have thought that all it would have taken to make "Been Caught Stealing" a true masterpiece would have been the addition of Phil Spector and actual dogs chasing Dick through the studio? Dick would have...that's who.
SLIPKNOT, as effective they are at reaching the disallusioned youth of America, will now reach so many more that Richard Cheese has put his spin on "People Equal Shit".
"The Girl Is Mine", originally recorded by Paul McCartney and the recently-acquitted Michael Jackson, gains a whole new life now that Richard has taken it on alongside the sweet-voiced Stephen Hawking.
Also being honored on
Aperitif For Destruction are METALLICA, ALANIS MORISSETTE, U2, GREEN DAY, ALICE IN CHAINS, and GUNS N' ROSES... and I defy you to find a flaw with any of these adaptations.
OK... Silly review over. This is another classic by Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine.
