When I put the Island debut disc from SALIVA, Every Six Seconds in my discman, Every six seconds, I feel like kicking the crap out of someone...and I like that...a lot.
Straight out of Memphis fuckin' Tennessee, SALIVA blends hard rock riffs, hip-hop, rap, grunge, and an occasional melodic vocal line to create what will be the stepping stone to more melodic rock albums in the years to come.
Simply put, you're going to start seeing a lot more bands like this showing up. Bands that will bridge the LIMP BIZKIT-style rap thing with a more hummable, melodic rock song...Just so when all of the kids who grew up listening to glam metal start getting signed, the transition doesn't sound so abrupt.
Notice how I didn't say that they have an "original sound"? There's a reason for that; They don't. They're very close in nature to FAITH NO MORE, which unfortunately, is no more, and has been for some time. They are a little better dressed than FNM was, anyway.
The guys in SALIVA write really hooky songs. "Your Disease" and "Click Click Boom" are instantly identifiable, thanks to a little help from producer Bob Marlette. These guys know that of the most primary importance is the song, and that's it. If people don't dig the hooks you're playing, you're not going to sell any records, and within a very short time frame, you're going back to flipping burgers for the rednecks.
