FIEND CLUB LOUNGE
First you heard about
RICHARD CHEESE, then you heard about
PAUL ANKA, but before these guys, there was
THE NUTLEY BRASS. Brass is exactly what it takes, to take classic era MISFITS songs and render them into lounge music, brass balls, that is.
This CD will without a doubt be loathed by most hard-core
Misfits fans, the guys who hated Graves and Hideous. But those out
there that are true fans of musicianship will absolutely love and
appreciate the talent and creativity that it took to make a CD like
this happen. Jerry Only will surely be bashed as a money hungry maniac
by some of the more bitter fans, the kind that can’t let go of Danzig
as the head of the Misfits, but really this wasn’t done by Jerry, it
was done by the Nutley Brass with the permission of Jerry Only. This CD
is great in the sense that after a long day of busting your ass and
listening to people yell, you can still listen to some of your favorite
horror-punk classics but in a more relaxing way. The music is all
instrumental, and the instruments mimic the vocals to a T on most
songs.
If you are looking for a swingy version of “Last Caress” or
maybe a version of “Skulls” or “Astro Zombies” that you can tap your
feet and snap your fingers to, this is absolutely what you’ve been
waiting for. I am a long time Misfits fan, and I also appreciate good
music, and while this is certainly an odd release to have the Misfits
name on, it absolutely did not disappoint me.
