Flots are back and again are away from MetalBlade and are with Crash Music .
This record opens with an intro called “Requiescal” and then into the
killer track in “Straight To Hell”. We hear Flots doing Black Metal to the max in
the main riff of this song. Then again the traditional Flots thrash is here
as with the upfront metal sound. Ah this brings me back to the first two
records and some of High. So damned catchy and it is so underground.
“Parasychotic” is very in your face underground and has a catch and hook.
True Flots til death. “Bleed” takes us down the mellower Flots road. It isn’t
them doing METALLICA it is FJ doing it with the great singer in Eric AK that
they always have had. He is so underrated. He should be up there with Geoff
Tate and the likes even though he has more rasp. I’d guess that hole in his
lung healed well.
“Look In His Eyes” picks up the straight mid-thrash. Oh some nice heavy
riffs ends this. “Childhood Hero” does have a very cool catch to it I must say.
I’d guess the label picked this as the single that should do it? “Bathing In
Red” starts down that more acoustical road and one of Flots best
alternatives. They can make it mellow with power and make you look at a band like
DAYS OF THE NEW and laugh. Remember that the Arizona air can bring out the more
sounds of their souls in the music they play.
“Nascents Morimar” throws more tweaked out sounds with the flange turned
up. There isn’t really lyrics just spoken word. It is definitely more of an
instrumental. “Out Of Mind” goes back to the more brutal sides of this record
while it pounds it to an end. They have a hidden track here that is more like
a conclusion of the record wrapped into one. I loved it. It wasn’t
overproduced and sounded so homegrown. Flots til Death! It is worth the wait for
records like this.
