ANYTHING FOR THE DEVIL
I know very little about RIKETS and I already feel that what I knew was too much. There new release,
Anything for the Devil, showed up for me to review and I was filled with joy…ok, not really. Here’s what I thought.
“Useless” kicks off the record, and the music isn’t too shabby. I was
happy with the track until the vocals kicked in. The track just sounds
over worked and the band comes off as a cheesy gimmick. From the
pentagram with the bands name inside on the album art to the course of
“You’re so useless!!!”, this has gotten off to an atrocious start.
Things didn’t get any better with “Hollywood”. The song sounds
like Joaquin Phoenix is singing until the chorus kicks in. I really
don’t think this album could get much worse. Hopefully I am right
because this is becoming unlistenable.
“Blister” was next on the list and I have to say, it wasn’t
all-bad. This track has a Disturbed-esque sound to it that made it
pretty good. This song has been the saving grace for this album, as I
don’t think there has been one reviewed on Foundry that got zero stars.
Mark that boys and girls, “Blister” is a good song!
The next to last track on the disc is “Bitter Words”, with a
name like that this song must be a hit, right?
Well, I was wrong, this track is awful. I can’t believe that one CD can
contain so much garbage. I can’t listen to this anymore. NEXT SONG…
The album ends with the title track, “Anything for the Devil”.
It is very low and the lyrics are mostly whispered. The track, and this
band, is extremely cheesy. I can’t comprehend that this group actually
got a record deal. “Anything for the Devil” comes off as a gimmick and
is nothing more than “I’d do anything for the devil” being screamed
over and over again.
This was a horrible album and totally not worth the money that
Corporate Punishment has put into Rikets. I would rather not listen to
this garbage ever again.
