THERE4 is a NJ based band that now has a five song EP that they
released last year and it must be heard by many. Just from the opening
riff of “You”, that I actually like to reverse to over and over again
and get pummeled by the riff. It is such a heavy core riff that just
digs into the flesh. The song also has plenty melody and magic. The
backing, forced vocals are awesome. Shades of Sevendust are heard.
These guys have all the tools to change gears at any moment. Even down
to kinda laying it on in a Dream Theater fashion without sounding
copycat like. This song has the potential to catapult them into the
fold of harder music.
“Empire” offers up some sweet moody keys, watch out Kevin Moore. The
vocals and the tone are in a Tool area but again they don’t rip them
off, it is definitely a different vibe. Progressive rockers and
metalheads far and wide should catch this infection like I did. This
band is that GOOD!!! You’ll hear everything from extreme vocals mixed
with some atmospherics keys that really work.
“Nothing Left” is another melding of styles that is just There4! The
groove and melodic sounds just pull you in. “Without” dives right in
with no intro and it is definitely one of the more uptempo tracks that
flows. Again this is another song that changes the gears and adds so
much more diversity to this bands sound. “Asleep” continues the more
spacey keys.
At this point you are wanting more and the CD is over. This should not
be a band lumped into a specific genre. A great record label might want
to take a close look at this band. Feel the mood and the power that
this band possesses.
They just placed high in a battle of the bands in NJ and you all should hear a new EP from them sooner than later.
